The Savages of Sigourney will take on the Warriors of WACO on Thursday in a class 1A doubleheader showdown Thursday. It’s the KCII Area game of the week. All four teams have winning records. The Sigourney girls are coming off a big win over their rival Keota on Tuesday night 68-44, where Josephine Moore dropped a career high 41 points. Sigourney is 11-4 and 8-3 in the conference. They have won six straight games all by double digits. For the season they are leading the South Iowa Cedar League conference in points per game with 58 a night. They also lead in assists per game 11.5, rebounds per game 32.4, steals per game 15.4 and blocks per game with 3.5 and shooting percentage at 36%, three point percentage 25% and free throw percentage at 60.6%. On the year, they are led by the duo of Brynn Clarahan and Josephine Moore, who are averaging 18.7 and 18.4 points per game.

On the other side, WACO will try to get back to their winning ways after falling to Lone Tree 55-52 in a heartbreaker in their last game. WACO is 11-4 on the year and 8-2 in the Super Conference North. For the season, the Warriors are averaging 46.5 points per game, which is fifth best in the conference. They average 32.7 rebounds, which is fourth best in the conference. They have a 30.4% shooting percentage and have the fifth best three point percentage in the conference at 46.8%. Brenna Graber leads the way for the Warriors with 15 points per game. Ella Huisenga is second on the team with 11 points per game.

Sigourney is 10-4 and 7-4 in the South Iowa Cedar League East. On Tuesday night they got a win over rival Keota 62-55, splitting the season series. John Berg led the way for the Savages with 19 points. The Savages are averaging 66 points a game, which is second in the conference. They allow 52 points per game and are also second in the SICL conference. The Savages average 14.2 assists, 33.6 rebounds, 8.7 steals and 3.2 blocks. Their shooting percentage is 43.7%, which is second best in their conference with a 21.7% three point percentage. At the foul line, they shoot 61.9%, which is the best in the conference. For the season, they are led by Issac Bruns who averages 18.5 points per game. John Berg is having a great season hauling in rebounds as he averages 12.5 a night, which ranks third in the SICL East. 

The WACO boys come into this matchup 10-3 and 8-1 in the conference. Their last game was a win over Louisa Muscatine 66-39. Christian Stacy led the way with 19 points. In the 2024/2025 season, the Warriors are averaging 55 points per contest, which is fourth in the conference. They are allowing just about 46 points per game, which is also top five in the conference. Assists, steals and rebounds, WACO ranks top five in all categories. The Warriors dish out 15 assists, haul in 29.5 boards and swipe 10.8 steals per night. They shoot 30.4%, 25.0% at the three point line and 46.8% at the charity stripe. Stacy leads the lead team with 18 points per game. Clayton Miller is the team’s leading rebounder with seven a game.
