The WACO Warriors claimed both duals at last night’s boys’ wrestling triangular in Lone Tree. WACO defeated the hosting Lions 54-30 and would beat Van Buren County by the same team score.
Senior Louden Huisenga led WACO by winning twice by fall at 190 pounds and continuing his undefeated season. Freshman Ian Maize also picked up a pair of pins at 106, as did senior Gage Samo at 120.
Also getting pins to win for the Warriors were freshman Vincent Craun at 113 lbs; sophomore Cylas Elder at 165; senior Deacon Bird at 150; and juniors Harley Larrimore and Tyler Rogers at 175 and 215, respectively.
In addition to the WACO loss, Lone Tree was beaten 48-30 by Van Buren County on the team scoreboard. The Lions were led by a pair of victories by fall from sophomore Cole Walmsley at 113 lbs.
Hudsyn Sojka also picked up a pin for Lone Tree at 126, as did fellow freshman Easton Ronan at 175 and sophomore Brock Nebergall at 120. Both the Lions and the WACO Warriors next compete tomorrow at the Kurt Hinschberger Invitational in Belle Plaine.
