The Washington Community School District has released a frequently asked question form to highlight the discussion of potentially moving from the current five-day school week to four days that was recently held. Superintendent Willie Stone shared what those in the district can expect, “The next step in this process will be trying to do a survey, we will release surveys on January 29th. That survey will go out to staff, students, and parents. The survey will close February 4th, and then we are trying to set up a work session with our board so that we can freely discuss things that week sometime, and then the vote will be on February 12th. And we have moved that board meeting to the auditorium. We think there may be several people that want to come and voice their opinion either for or against.” The document was developed following a community meeting with nearly 150 people in attendance, and it includes a summary of the discussion, along with identified advantages, disadvantages, and remaining unanswered questions. The board has addressed a number of questions and are committed to resolving all outstanding inquiries. You can find a link to the form with this news story at KCIIRadio.com.
