The Washington Demons picked up a boys’ basketball victory on the road Monday by edging out Ottumwa 56-54. Washington only trailed by a point at the end of the first quarter and tied the game at 24 going into halftime.

The Demons would be again down by a point in the final period, but an 8-2 run put them in front 55-50, and while Ottumwa got back within a score at the end, Washington kept them from ever tying the score.

Senior Logan McDole led the Demons by scoring 15 points, while sophomore Nic Stone hit four three-point shots and finished with 13 points as Washington gets its second win in the last three games and improves to 7-9.

The Demon girls’ basketball team was in a tight one for most of the night, but Ottumwa finished the game on a 15-4 run to secure a 46-34 victory. A loss drops Washington to 5-12.

Both Demon teams next play at home Friday against Mount Pleasant. You can catch Washington Demon basketball on KCII Friday night starting with pregame coverage at 5:30 on 106.1 FM and streaming on KCIIradio.com and the KCII app.
