Three local archery teams traveled to the Chuck Hallier tournament Saturday at Mt. Vernon. The hardware came home with the bunch from Lincoln Elementary for Washington. They won the team bullseye championship with a 2839 score over Springville’s 2505. Jayse Thorius was boys overall champion with a 268 and 11 tens. He was joined in the top 10 by teammates Dawson Zieser second, Louis Mejia third, and Logan Hotchkiss fourth. Top round for the Washington girls was Aly Black third at 243 with seven tens. Chloe Entsminger was seventh, Kaylee McFarland eighth and Kiara Murphy 10th. It was another championship for the Lincoln Demons in 3D at 1327, beating second place St. James 950. Logan Hotchkiss was the boys overall winner, leading Washington with a 243 and five tens. Other teammate top tens included Jayse Thorius runner-up, Owen Gellerstedt fifth, Mason Ousey seventh, Skyler Ruenger eighth, Dawson Zieser ninth and Jackson Miller 10th. For the girls Chloe Entsminger won the individual title with a 221 and three tens, followed by top ten teammates Kaylee McFarland fourth, Faelyn Lee sixth, Emma Timmins seventh, and Harper Horn eighth.
The middle school Demons were second in 3D as a team with 1567, behind Mt. Vernon’s 1591. Zach Hotchkiss was individual boys champ with a 280 including 18 tens. Bella Venenga had the top girls performance in eighth at 262 and seven tens. Lillith Hernandez was ninth. In bullseye, Washington was fourth at 3154, behind Anamosa’s 3197. Bella Venenga was fifth for the girls with a 272 and 11 tens. Jordan Thorius led the boys in ninth at 272 and 12 tens.
Washington High Schoolers were third in 3D with a 1630, behind Cedar Rapids Prairie’s winning 1699. Charlie Read had the top Demon girls score in third at 280 with 16 tens. For the boys Jace Sanders was 17th at 271 with nine tens. For block, Washington was fourth as a team with 3299, behind Prairie’s winning 3373. Charlie Read had 281 with 13 tens for seventh, followed by Kamryn Williams eighth and Brooke Feliciano ninth. For the boys, Ethan Hotchkiss was 18th at 281 and 18 tens.
The Golden Hawk archery club high schoolers were third in 3D at 1627. Johnathon Pickard had the top boys round at 283 with 16 tens for fifth. Top girls performer was Averi Janecek 10th at 274 with 11 tens. In bullseye, the Hawks were fourth as a team at 3299. Johnathon Pickard led the boys also in eighth at 286 and 16 tens. Girls leader was Ava Miller 20th at 275 with 14 tens.
Mid-Prairie middle schoolers were fifth in bullseye with a 3140 score. Beckett Miller was best for the boys in 10th at 272 with 11 tens. Top girls score was Brookyn Liska 25th at 258 with eight tens. In 3D, the Hawks were sixth at 1542. Braxton Ropp was boys leader in fourth at 267 with nine tens. Noah Coblentz was sixth. Brooklyn Liska was 19th at 249 with seven tens to lead the girls.
The elementary Hawks did not post team scores, they were led individually in block by Zayley Jaspering as girls runner-up at 249 with seven tens. Stetson Cole was the boys leader in sixth with 238 with five tens. Samuel Newton was eighth and Levi Coblentz 10th. Levi Coblentz led the boys in 3D at 240 with seven tens for third, Samuel Newton was sixth. Monica Beachy was 10th for the girls with a 110.
St. James was second in team 3D at 950. Misty Mei was third for the girls at 188 with a ten. Harper Keeler was fifth, and Dalia Atilano Marcelino ninth. Marvin Colin led the boys in 19th at 162 with four tens. In bullseye, Misty Mei was the top girls shooter in ninth at 228 with two tens and Landon Jones led the boys at 215 with three tens for 23rd.
