Eight local wrestlers find themselves listed among the best in the state in the latest set of rankings issued by Iawrestle.com.

For the boys, in Class 1A, the area leaders are the WACO Warriors with three individuals listed in this week’s poll. At 190lbs, Louden Huisenga is No. 1 with his perfect 29-0 record. Ian Maize is No. 2 at 106lbs with a 27-2 mark for the season. At 113lbs, Gage Samo is No. 6 with a 28-1 record. That group all won tournament championships at Wapello, Iowa City Regina and their home tourney with Samo and Huisenga winning at Louisa-Muscatine and Maize and Huisenga winning at Highland. The Warriors are also the lone team to appear in the dual rankings, checking in at No. 10 this week in 1A.

In Class 2A, the Washington Demons have Aaron Boone at No. 2 at 132lbs. Boone has a 38-1 record. He was the individual champion at Fort Madison, WACO and Corning.

For the Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union Wildcats, Dakota Aney is No. 12 at 106lbs with a 36-9 record.

In girls wrestling, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks have a pair in the latest Class 1A poll. Ashlee Farrier is No. 4 at 130lbs. She has a 29-1 record on the year. Farrier is the River Valley Conference champion to go with titles from tournaments at North Scott, Wilton, West Liberty, and her home tournament. Ellie Callahan is No. 8 at 170lbs with a 25-4 record this year, winning the title at West Liberty.

Sigourney-Keota’s Reanah Utterback maintains her spot atop the 1A poll at 115lbs with a 48-0 record, winning individual championships at her home SK tournament, Wilton, Fort Madison, Wapello, Pekin, Chariton, EBF, Denver, Ottumwa, West Marshall, Cascade, Waukee Northwest, Council Bluffs-Lewis Central, Colfax-Mingo and the South Iowa Cedar League title.
