The Sigourney Savages took both of their basketball battles at Iowa Valley last night. That included the Sigourney girls running their impressive win streak to 11 in a row by beating Iowa Valley 55-15.
The Savages controlled the game from the jump, racing out to an 18-4 lead and never looking back. The now-12th-ranked team in the state in Class 1A improves to 11-3 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 16-4 overall.
The Sigourney boys were in a tight, back-and-forth contest with Iowa Valley, trailing by three at the end of the first quarter and down one point at halftime. The Savages still faced a three-point deficit entering the final period, but they would rally to win 61-59.
A fourth straight victory and a 10th win in the last 11 games means Sigourney raises its record to 14-5, including a 9-4 record in conference play. Both Savage squads next play Thursday at Moravia.
