KCII was able to speak with U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley about the use of tariffs by President Donald Trump, “I am for free and fair trade, I always have been. I think I always will be, so starting out with that statement, you would think that I oppose what President Trump’s doing. I’m going to take the attitude, maybe for the last decades that I have been a free trader, maybe it can be done a better way. So I am willing to wait and see how it works out. His ideas, he imposes tariffs, he brings people to the table to negotiate. Then maybe it will turn out better than the fifty years that I have been a free and fair trader, maybe it’s better. If he’s right I’ll applaud him, if he’s wrong then I’ll say I told you so.” Since speaking, all parties have agreed to postpone the scheduled tariffs for at least thirty days.
