The Highland Huskies wrapped up conference play in girls’ basketball with a 53-34 win over Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday night in Riverside. A 15-2 run sent Highland into halftime up 30-14, and the Huskies never looked back.

Freshman Kamryn Fink had another huge game to lead Highland with 29 points, 18 rebounds and six steals. Sophomores Hailey Brun and Katelyn Thomann combined for 12 points, 11 steals and six assists as the Huskies improve to 15-6, including a final 11-5 mark in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

The Highland boys would suffer an 80-67 loss to Louisa-Muscatine, falling behind 23-15 in the first quarter before the Falcons ripped off a 24-8 run going into the half. While they would get closer down the stretch, the Huskies would never fully rally.

Junior Bryce Hazelett paced Highland with 25 points and four steals, while senior Louis Horak had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior William Dunbar put up 11 points and six boards, while senior Logan McFarland added 10 points, five rebounds and two steals.

The loss drops Highland to 1-17, including a 1-14 record in the Super Conference North. Both packs for the Huskies next play in the annual Super Conference Shootout, including the boys’ team competing tomorrow night at home against Cedar Valley Christian.
