Choose Iowa is looking to help out small meat processors. According to Iowa Secretary of State Mike Naig, the grant is part of Choose Iowa, the state’s marketing program, which is designed to promote Iowa grown agricultural products. The grant is administered by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Projects that are eligible for the grant funds are the installation of equipment used in the processing of meat products, remodeling facilities to increase efficiency, or to help in the construction of a new or enlarged facility. Recipients can receive up to $100,000 dollars with a one-to-one financial match. Applicants must submit their application by March 31st at 12 p.m. Awardees will be announced in May.
