Seven local boys wrestling teams hit the mat today for district tournaments around southeast Iowa and the chance to make their State dreams come true.

In Class 2A, the Washington Demons and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks both make the trip to Williamsburg for the District 12 Tournament. They will be joined by grapplers from Eddyville-Blakesburg, Knoxville, Mediapolis, Mt. Pleasant, Solon and the home Raiders.

Also in Class 2A, the Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union Wildcats are in Centerville for the District 4 Tournament with Albia, Burlington Notre Dame, Creston, Davis County, Fairfield, Keokuk and the home Big Reds.

In 1A, the Lone Tree Lions and Highland Huskies both hit the road for Wilton and the District 12 Tournament to take on wrestlers from Durant, English Valleys, Louisa-Muscatine, New London, Northeast Goose Lake, Iowa City Regina, Springville, West Branch, and the home Beavers.

Also in Class 1A, WACO and Sigourney-Keota go west to Pleasantville and the District 7 Tournament to matchup with athletes from Alburnett, BGM, Cardinal, Iowa Valley, North Mahaska, Van Buren, Wapello and the home Trojans.

The champion and runner-up at each weight class will advance to the 2025 Iowa High School Athletic Association State Championship wrestling meet at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines next week.
