The Washington City Council approved a resolution accepting the Library MakeIT Place project complete.  

City Administrator Joe Gaa made this statement on the project completion, “It took a while to get all of the punch lists done, but it is done and I think that Cary Ann and her staff are very happy with it.” The design process for this new addition was completed in July 2023. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on June 11th, 2024. 

The MakeIT Place is a project supported by the Washington Free Public Library Foundation and made possible with support from these major donors: Geri Weeks, Keith L. Cook, The Washington County Riverboat Foundation, Maurice Farrier, and The Alliant Energy Foundation. The Library welcomes continued financial support as well as volunteers to improve and expand services offered in the MakeIT Place.
