
Wind speeds reached 48 miles per hour in Washington on Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities a strong area of low pressure moved across the region on Tuesday and Wednesday that created hazardous weather across the Midwest. The rain that fell on Tuesday in southeast Iowa was able to soak into the ground as frost depths were down to zero inches according to the NWS meteorologists.
As the system moved across the area on Wednesday, strong winds were recorded. Iowa City had a wind gust of 54 miles per hour. Fairfield matched Washington’s high of 48 miles per hour. And Lone Tree recorded a gust of 43 miles per hour.
