A local organization that aims to improve the area is hosting its sixth annual pub crawl this weekend. The Washington Betterment Foundation will host the event with six local businesses participating. Samantha Meyer with the foundation shares what people can expect, “You get six drinks, so a drink at each bar. You get shuttled around. We have got two big old buses to take you around. They will run in a continuous loop starting at 5:30 p.m. So, go start wherever you want to start at 5 p.m., get your drink, hang out, play some games, get a bite to eat. And then the buses will start running at 5:30 p.m. and they’ll  just keep running.” The buses will run through 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

She shares this is the foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year, “So all of the money that we raise with this goes right back into the community. The Washington Iowa Betterment Foundation, we give out grants every year.” Area non-profits and the city apply for those grants. For example, the downtown hanging baskets are paid for in part by Betterment.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $30. There is also a Barrow of Betterment filled with prizes that will be raffled off. Find more information here.
