A trial date has been set for a Kalona man charged with arson.

Reuven Miller has pleaded not guilty to the charges of arson in the first degree, a class B felony, and harassment in the first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. A jury trial has been set for March 25th, with a pretrial conference on March 14th.

According to court documents, law enforcement arrested 39-year-old Miller on January 28th at 9:57 a.m. in Kalona after Miller claimed he had a bomb inside a house and his father was in the house. Allegedly Miller attempted to light the house on fire and had boxes of fireworks side by side. Nine of the fireworks did explode, but did not catch the house on fire.

He was taken to the Washington County Jail where he remains in custody.
