This week, businesses in Kalona will open their doors for a spring celebration. Thursday through Saturday, visit Kalona for the Just Us Chicks Spring Getaway. More than 30 shops and stores will take part in the event featuring opportunities to shop special discounts, socialize, sight-see, try tasty treats, samples and more. While browsing at various downtown locations, patrons are invited to pick up a game card to enter a drawing for a giant basket of Kalona goodies and gift cards. Kalona Chamber of Commerce Director Tonia Poole explained the event and the opportunity to see the city in the springtime. “This has been an event that’s been going on for a number of years, featuring a number of businesses in downtown Kalona including the new Collected Treasures Antiques & Quilts that just opened up a couple of weeks ago, along with many other favorites. If you shop along the participating stores, over those three days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, you get entered to win one of two large prize baskets filled with all kinds of Kalona favorite products. It’s a great way to celebrate Spring!”
