A hearing regarding the gaming license for a Cedar Rapids casino has been scheduled for next month in Mt. Pleasant. Initially the hearing had been scheduled for last week in Louisa County but it has been moved back one month.

The hearing is in regards to the challenge from the Riverside Casino and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation that the gambling license approved 4-1 by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission earlier this year for a casino in Linn County should not have been granted due to wording that was on the 2021 ballot referendum.

A stay on the project that’s under construction was not issued by a judge in March, but it was stated that the case had merits for further review.

The hearing will be held May 7th in the Henry County Courthouse.
