The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track and field teams showed off on the big stage this weekend at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Jayden Stafford won his third Drake flag, taking the wheelchair 400 in a sizzling 1:03.22. Burke Berry was 12th for the Golden Hawks in the shot put throwing 53’0.25”. Landon Prince of Clear Creek Amana was the winner at 61’10.75”. The Mid-Prairie 4×100 group of Nolan Jergens, Kaden Kos, Ryan Henry and Kendrick Kos finished 50th in the field at 44.06 seconds. Johnston was the winner in 41.84 seconds.

The Golden Hawk girls were led by freshman phenom Jeorgia Evans who went eighth in the 100m prelims at 12.33 to qualify for the finals where she also placed eighth at 12.31 seconds. Kelly Grobstich of Davenport Assumption was the champion in 11.82 seconds. Evans was also in the long jump, placing 22nd at 15’6.25”. Reese Brownlee of Clear Lake was the winner at 18’10”. Dessa Poll went 16th in discus with a throw of 119’3”, with Delilah Subsin of Ottumwa the winner at 156’9”. The Golden Hawk 4×100 of Jeorgia and Jovi Evans, Tessa Bombei and Myli Hershberger went 24th in 50.13 seconds. Waukee Northwest were the winners in 47.65 seconds.
