The Mid-Prairie girls knocked off Wilton 58-43 Friday night in Wellman. In a game heard on kciiradio.com the Golden Hawk offense continued to stay hot, posting their second highest output of the year. Mid-Prairie would never trail starting the game on an 8-0 run, Wilton would never get closer than six the rest of the contest. Mid-Prairie feasted on 15 Wilton turnovers and pulled away by outscoring the Beavers 16-10 in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach. Mid-Prairie was led by 17 points from Mallory McArtor and 11 from Mariah Swartzentruber. With the win Mid-Prairie runs their winning streak to 12 straight, they have won 14 of their last 15 to improve to 15-4 overall and 12-1 in the Cedar Valley Conference. Mid-Prairie can clinch at least a share of the Cedar Valley Conference title with a win over Tipton Monday night, it would be their first since 2002 and only the 2nd since 1976. Mid-Prairie Boys Comeback on Wilton
A see-saw battle in Wellman Friday night saw Mid-Prairie make the last run to knock off Wilton 66-61. The Golden Hawks started the game on a 7-2 run but Wilton would tie it after one quarter and take a 38-35 lead into the locker room. Wilton extended the lead to eight going into the final eight minutes when the Beavers tried to stall out the quarter including one offensive possession that lasted over 2:15 but the Mid-Prairie defense stood tall in the frame allowing just four Wilton points. The Golden Hawks capitalized pouring in 17 of their own including an Austin Errthum three point basket that gave Mid-Prairie the lead for good. Jaemin Powell posted a career high 27 points in the win. Mid-Prairie now stands at 4-15 overall and 4-9 in the Cedar Valley Conference.
