The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard quarterly reports from two Washington County Departments as part of their meeting yesterday.  Sue Rich from Washington County General Assistance shared that over the course of the last year, a total of 133 applications were submitted which is down from 154 last year.  The total amount spent on assistance was a little over $9800 and is $3000 lower than last year.

Rich explained that a total of 54 Veterans Affairs applications for benefits were turned in over the course of the last 12 months and almost $4600 in benefits were paid.  She notes the lower benefits paid came from many Veterans receiving the proper Federal assistance.

The County also decided to pay up to $1500 for the upcoming Honor Flight in September and opened three bids for the Orchard Hill Building project.  The winning bid for that project is being announced at next week’s meeting.
