The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks advanced in the class 1A girls soccer playoffs Tuesday night in Wellman with a dominating 8-1 win over visiting Washington. The Hawks got on the board in the 5th minute when Meghan Redlinger found the back of the net. Mid-Prairie went back to back in the 14th and 15th minutes with goals from Ali Riggan and Redlinger respectively making the lead 3-0. Redlinger wasn’t finished sewing up a hat trick in the first half with a 35th minute goal and making it 5-0 in the 37th minute with her fourth of the night.
Out of the break Mid-Prairie continued the offensive attack as Taylor Hershberger found the back of the net in the 42nd minute making it 6-0. Renee Buckwalter tallied in the 44th minute making it 7-0 and Ashley Miller wrapped up the Mid-Prairie scoring with a 55th minute goal to make it 8-0 Golden Hawks. The Demons broke up the shut out late with an 80th minute goal from Stephanie Evans. Washington ends their season at 3-12. Mid-Prairie is now 10-5-1 and will host the second round of regionals Friday night against Fairfield who defeated Centerville 5-0 Tuesday night.
